UK Sport

UK Sport is the Government agency responsible for maximising British success in the Olympic and Paralympic Games through investing in, and supporting, our most talented athletes. It was established in 1997 following the introduction of the National Lottery - and specifically a change in Lottery legislation in 1996 to allow investment in people as well as facilities. This latter change enabled a systematic programme of investment to be put in place around our best sportsmen and women. The result has been to transform the nation's Olympic and Paralympic fortunes. Great Britain moved from being Olympic also-rans at the Atlanta Games in 1996 to a Top 10 nation in Sydney and Athens. Those results are now the foundations of a move to build a high performance system in this country that is world leading in terms of athlete support, coaching, facilities, training and preparation and delivers lasting success on the international stage.

Leeds Met Carnegie

Carnegie Faculty of Sport & Education at Leeds Metropolitan University starts its work with some of the youngest in our society and continues to do so through to adulthood. Within that we work in partnerships and teams. The experience is delivered across teaching, research, volunteering, sport and researching and it’s delivered on the beautiful Headingley campus, in primary and secondary schools, on football pitches, lecture theatres, the Lake District and beyond. Carnegie has consistently delivered an ‘experience’ throughout its history. It’s for this reason that our name is held with such affection by so many of its ex-students. Our mission is to continue to deliver this experience in innovative and exciting ways that are relevant and of value to our stakeholders.

Carnegie and Dartfish have formed a partnership that will enable students, coaches and research staff to accelerate their learning in the area of performance analysis. Carnegie students now have access to world class software during their undergraduate and postgraduate studies that will enable them not only to analyse sports and movement, but also to analyse their own coaching and teaching behaviours. The software is going to enable students across all courses to quantify their teaching and coaching development as well as give our sports coaches an invaluable tool to use with their BUSA and high performance teams in both training and competition environments.

Asics

A new era of sportswear manufacturing began in 1949, when Mr. Onitsuka started Onitsuka Co. Ltd. Looking stunned at post World War II Japan with its huge numbers of homeless children he asked himself: "What can I do to give them a better future?" His love for sports led him to the right answer: That sports would be the best starting point to achieve this goal. ASICS was born. ASICS’ sub-brand Onitsuka Tiger revives the company’s legendary Japanese heritage featuring both casual sports shoes and fashionable apparel for leisure wear.
By offering a wide range of sports footwear, apparel and equipment, the company continued to grow. Up to now, ASICS is the fifth largest brand in the sports shoe market worldwide, and a whole lot of subsidiaries cover the four corners of the world.
